09 - Mistborn version of jogging.

[For reasons only Kelsier knows he's bounding from one end of the deck to the other. He never the touches the ground. He's keeping himself air born with Pushes and Pulls on the metal surfaces of the barge.

He's doing the Mistborn version of running laps around deck. He pauses a couple times and hovers a few feet off the ground.

Anyone on deck might find he takes great joy in landing heavily a few feet behind anyone not paying attention, to startle them.

He might be bored.]

[Spam for Erik]

[At a rather random time, without warning, Kelsier appears when Erik is either alone or at a place he can accost him.]

There you are! [The usual grin is present.] Come with me it's mildly important.

[And by mildly important he means coming to his cabin with him because he has a new bottle of mysterious brown liquor.]

[Iris is on her way back from the CES with her dogs when Kelsier springs past like some kind of gravitationally-challenged cartoon character and makes her giggle.

Solace and Elvis have never seen a man fly before. Iris' reaction tells them there's no threat in it, and so they jump to the next available conclusion: this is a great and glorious game just for them. They bound after him with a great and noisy enthusiasm.]

[ guess who has his steel enhancement back

Guess who has his steel enhancement and wants to be more badass than you

Watch him use only his Steel to turn himself around midair, to move and stop. ]

Bored?

[brbculling]

[The young blond man in armor staring at the CES door apparently startles badly; at the thump behind him he whirls around and draws a knife in the same move.]

What the hell?

[Since Kelsier isn't trying to sneak, dogs are welcome distraction. And immensely fun to wear out. He considers, briefly, finding a stick to embed a coin into and see how they'd like chasing it.

He ends up saving that idea for another time and lands nimbly on the railing near Iris.]

We meet again.

[onlysurvivor]

[Kelsier stops abruptly then steadies himself a little awkwardly mid-air.]

Something like that.

IRIS' DOGS ARE THE BEST BARGEDOGS

[routemistress]

[She's still giggling when she catches up; it's a welcome distraction and Kelsier always makes her smile. They've not talked much, but Marsh is so leaky that she feels like she knows Kelsier better than she actually does.]

Oooh, you reckon folk'll start talking?

[onlysurvivor]

[Kelsier holds up his hands.] Easy. I mean no harm.

[He's not terribly concerned about the knife and shows no indication of drawing his own.]

[brbculling]

Where did you come from?

[He's just coming back from the deck, and gives Kelsier an arched eyebrow and a quietly amused look.]

Only mildly?

[onlysurvivor]

[He smiles wide.] Above you. Or did you mean before the Barge?

[godsays]

More importantly we should talk. Though this-- [He waves the bottle] --mildly important also.

[onlysurvivor]

Nah. [He smiles and winks at her.]

I think their brains would explode. I don't know if any of them can even picture me with someone.

[He crouches on the railing with surprising balance. He looks down to the dogs, smirking. He's very tempted to give them a couple of snack cakes he likes carrying.]

[He sighs, glancing in the direction of CTS.]

I don't want to fight or spar. Not... yet.

[godsays]

[ He subsides, a little. ] Why not?

[onlysurvivor]

[He lowers himself to the ground.] Too soon.

I never fought the voice, Zane.

[godsays]

You. Never fought it?

[ He doesn't believe it. Surely Kelsier would have fought many times as hard as Zane. ]

[brbculling]

Did you jump off of a roof?

[He doesn't like things he doesn't understand :C]

[onlysurvivor]

It said what I wanted to hear.

[He drops himself to the ground.] Kill the nobles. Kill the Lord Ruler.

[onlysurvivor]

Ah. A while ago, yes. I've been air born for the past few minutes.

[He glances up.] It's quite nice up there really.

[godsays]

[ Zane goes still.

But - you never let anyone tell you what to do. ]

I don't know what to say.

[ He won't say what he thought: it's petty as a small child's pleading, soft and silly. ]

I still hear it in my dreams.

[brbculling]

You fly.

[He sounds... resigned to this. Stupid outworlders and their weird magic.]

[onlysurvivor]

No, I can't. Common mistake. It's more like controlled falling.

[onlysurvivor]

[He nods distantly. He really doesn't know what to say himself.]

[brbculling]

Technically, or practically?

[godsays]

What do you know now, that you didn't know before the flood?

[onlysurvivor]

A little of both. It is extremely easy to kill yourself with Steel Pushing and Iron Pulling.

[onlysurvivor]

[He shrugs] I've burned gold before, Zane. I was what I saw.

What Vin and my crew were afraid I would become.

[godsays]

I see something different, every time. When I burned it on that Barge, I saw me, here. When I burned it here, at first, I saw... a warden. A man who pulled out the spike the instant it was in, and barely survived, and grew without its influence.

Sometimes I see someone who never pursued Vin. Who's still that assassin. Or who's a king now.

So do you know anything you didn't know already?

[onlysurvivor]

I don't want to talk about it. [Even as he needs to.]

I killed almost everyone in the world. Including you. I did you personally.

[godsays]

[ At this, Zane goes tense. Tense like a predator, not like frozen prey. He hadn't thought of himself as part of Kelsier's world. Not since the flood ended. ]

How?

[brbculling]

Even if that's not your intent.

Steel pulls and iron pushes. How does that lift you?

[onlysurvivor]

[He sighs and rubs his face.]

What difference would telling you make?

[onlysurvivor]

Ah! If I were to Push against that railing over there. I'm not strong enough to move that much metal so the force is directed back at me and I'm pushed back. If I Pull, I will be drawn toward it.

Now if I were to Pull on say, a sword, it would come flying directly at me. And to Push, it would fly away.

[brbculling]

[Makes sense.

Arthas' mind is already running through possible applications.]

You couldn't move the ship, then.

[onlysurvivor]

Not likely.

I suppose, if I truly wanted to I could nudge it an inch or so. With enough Duralumin and a stationary Anchor outside the ship but that is a risky prospect. I would need to Push and Pull simultaneously, at full force. It could rip my body apart. It wouldn't be very pretty.

[godsays]

Not telling me would make a difference.

[onlysurvivor]

[He flinches faintly at the words. No, he doesn't want to tell him.]

I tried to make you beg for death. [His voice hard] It wasn't quick.

Are you happy now?

[brbculling]

What's an anchor?

[godsays]

Tried?

[ He could see himself being broken. He could see himself defying a captor, too.

He shouldn't - he shouldn't ask which one was what happened. But he's asking anyway. ]

I'm beginning to think you're bribing me.

[He falls into step with Kelsier, at least, and looks at him askance.] And what is it we're to talk about?

I would never bribe anyone. Terribly much.

[His expression wavers slightly.] Whatever needs to be spoke of.

There's a reason people don't trust you as far as they can throw you. [Said with a touch of irony, because he does trust Kelsier, in a few small ways. He shrugs.]

I think there's mold growing in the inmate showers.

[He's been borrowing Charles' bathroom: he hasn't seen the inmate showers in months.]

I think you know. We should talk of what happened on the other Barge.

[Erik turns away with a practiced look of distaste and boredom to hide how troubled it leaves him.]
