001 \ video \ open spam for tree hugging

[The video feed is pointed toward a series of plants in the garden. There is a very excited blond man very gently touching the leaves of one of the plants. It's like he's afraid he might break it. If one looks closely they might be able to see thin white scratch like scars covering his hands and forearms.

He smiles brightly toward the video feed.]

I knew plants were supposed to be green!

But! I didn't expect flowers to smell this good. They were said to have pleasant scents but... [he stops to smell the flowers, literally. He closes his eyes and looks truly blissful for a second.] This is amazing.

[He excited turns back to the camera.] Most of you come from worlds with green plants, right? I need you to tell me something... [Somehow his grin got broader.] Was the sun yellow? The sky, was it blue and clear of smoke and ash?

It was.

Oh, we had vegetables and fruit but our fruit... it didn't come from flowers. They just grew without them.

[She frowns, uncertain of what all else to say. But then her eyes briefly widen as she realizes they're talking without names here.] I didn't even introduce myself, sorry. My name's Claire, I'm a warden here.

[He smiles anyway.] Kelsier. I'm a new warden. Pleasure to meet you.

Yeah, nice to meet you. Kelsier, that's a fun name. Does it mean something?

video;

[onlysurvivor]

It means... [he leans closer to the camera] ...I'm completely insane.

[he can't keep a straight face very long. It was a terrible joke and he knows it.] Sorry, I don't actually know what it means.

[some_kinda_hero]

[At the proximity, her lips pull into her mouth, anticipation growing, but with the unexpected answer, Claire just laughs through her nose.] Not your fault, I was only curious. Mine, on the other hand, means 'bright'. Not that you asked, but. [Shrugs.]

It's a nice name. Your smile lives up to it. That's good, people should smile.

Thank you, [she chirps, sitting up straighter ever so slightly.] Sometimes it's easy to do here and others not so much. But it can't always be a pleasure cruise, otherwise you'd just take everything for granted, and what would be the purpose of rehabilitating under false pretenses?

[He grows somber.] Well, no one likes to be trapped or forced. I can understand that. If they're desperate enough, people will do anything. It makes sense to fake rehabilitation to get what you want.

[His smile returns briefly] I used to be like some of the inmates here. It's part of my reason for being here now.

[She grows more serious too, head tilting in thought.] We're all like inmates, I think. There's a devil and a saint in everyone but it just depends on which one you choose to nourish and act like.

[onlysurvivor]

[He smiles again.] That's good to hear, especially from a Warden.

[some_kinda_hero]

[She's not sure how to respond to that, so Claire chooses something that feels safe enough.] Thank you.

[Even if it almost sounds more like a question than statement.] I hope you enjoy the gardens, Kelsier.
