06 \ video but kinda not

[Video switches on but shows nothing but darkness. The sounds of rocks sliding and settling comes in loud and clear, however. There's labored breathing a short distance away then the sounds of something moving, rather, dragging toward the comm.

From the light of the comm, a scarred hand is lit up briefly before it closes over the device. Some shuffling follows then a barely audible groan. The feed stays open for several minutes before anything more happens.]

There's been a cave in.

[Kelsier's voice is tight and very much not like him. There's more silence for a long while before some shuffling then a hiss of pain.]

My vials shattered.

[Oh Kel. Oh Kel, why. But when he responds, it's tight calm, not anger.]

Which direction from the main cave people have been congregating in, and how badly are you hurt?

...South? [Depressingly not sure at the moment.]

[And again a long silence.]


My hands are bleeding.

[iswatching]

We're going to get you out.

[This is not a reassurance. This is a fact about the universe, with all the force of Marsh's stubbornness behind it.]

Keeping talking to me. How much blood? Do you have other supplies with you?

I'm checking south. If I find him--

If you find him, I have metals. Pewter. For him.

[onlysurvivor]

[Again, it takes him a long time to respond, like he almost didn't hear him.]

Not... enough to be worried about.

[There's some slight digging sounds.] The torch is out...

[Now he's muttering something to himself about hearing screaming.]

Maybe an hour or two after the post

[godsays]

Have you found him? I'm - I need pewter, I'm out. And I burned through the atium outside.

[ He sounds exasperated. And exhausted. ]

There were people who needed rescuing.

[iswatching]

Not yet. We're combing the tunnels as meticulously as we can, but he can't give us good directions and there's a lot to cover.

I have more, come find me.

[Brief directions to the tunnel branch he's searching.]

[godsays]

I'm coming.

[It'll take him several minutes to navigate his way through, but tin helps. He reaches Marsh burning tin and bronze and nothing else, at the moment. Conspicuously not burning zinc or brass.

He's also a little singed.]

[That voice seems familiar, he frowns slightly to himself. Why doesn't this seem right? He shifts, feeling for something lost in the floor of the cave.]

...Vin?

It's me.

[Her voice is solid steel. Unflappable.]

Are you smiling?

[Smiling? The question does actually make him smile at the absurdity.]

...because you asked.

[godsays]

Kelsier?

[onlysurvivor]

[resigned] They will kill me tonight.

[godsays]

No. They won't. You survive.

[onlysurvivor]

I didn't find any atium. [This is logic. It makes perfect sense, right?]

[permutates]

Hey. You'll be okay.

[onlysurvivor]

[Just a little distant laugh.] I've never been okay.

[permutates]

Are you kidding? You're always okay. Especially when you're not okay.

[onlysurvivor]

[Unfortunately, Kelsier isn't listening very well. Distractedly:] I hear her screaming.

[tactical_alert]

[Oh, for the love of--don't people stick together and not go wandering?] Sir, we're going to find you. Someone must have heard or seen the collapse, and with as much muscle as we have, moving the rocks should be no problem. Was anyone else with you? Is it just you?

[onlysurvivor]

[Somehow being called 'sir' makes him laugh a little.]

It's... [uncertain pause] Just me. I think.

[wecanavenge]

[How does this happen to you Kelsier. Erik pauses, listening to the breathing and he's just waiting to hear how bad it is, really. But Kelsier speaks and he doesn't sound like he's dying, and at least that is a relief. (He'll explore that later, when things are less dire.)]

How badly are you hurt?

[onlysurvivor]

My hands are bleeding... [He says that like he's not sure if they should be or not.]

...out of pewter.

[Long pause] Can you hear screaming?

[They definitely should not be, Kel. Erik curses internally, but he's trying very hard to keep his voice calm.]

No. I don't hear anyone. Can you see any light where you are?
