08 - Spam + Messages

[Kelsier has been restless which is never a good thing for anyone. It usually leads to trouble.

The trouble today is that he raided the Art Therapy room and made off with googly eyes. He had originally gone there for another reason but something about the googly eyes spoke to him. ]

[Around the Barge, various inanimate objects have been defaced with pairs of googly eyes. There is a broom with a pair of eyes. A plate in the mess hall. Several books in the library. A pair of shoes. A lamp shade. A few of the pool balls. Anything that looks like it could use a random pair of eyes.]

[Kelsier can be seen casually putting the eyes on various objects in public locations. When he's done/out of googly eyes, he ends his day at the Pub where he puts his last pair of googly eyes on his mug.]

[Outside the door to Charles cabin a bottle of mysteriously strong liquor has been left. It has googly eyes pasted on it so it now has a silly face. It also so a note: You still look like you need it. --Kelsier]

I left some of the certain mysteriously strong liquor we found for Charles. Let me know how it turns out.

[The Motorcycle Boy wanders more than enough to notice. And he takes one of the books, and goes to the pub for his standard hour (or six) of people watching.

So he sees Kelsier's last set of googly eyes, and smiles despite himself.]

Is that the only medium you work in?

Oh, I work with what ever is available. [He gestures with the mug in his hand, making the eyes wiggle around.]

It's not just 'cause you're bored, is it?

[He gets up, grabs another drink from the bar as if he's not in the middle of a conversation, then comes over to join Kelsier. Where were we?]

[He leans back in his chair.]

Boredom is one of the reasons.

[She has named her golem-dog Clifford, because it was meant to be a joke on Stark's part, and the best way she knows to joke is to be unfailingly serious. So, which she does sort of appreciate the idea of googly eyes stuck to the top of his head, it's also weird, and he appears to find it mildly distressing.]

[She sends him across the cafeteria when she realizes Kelsier is there at the same time she is (and really, who else would be responsible). He sits down at Kelsier's feet and looks up at him mournfully.]

[Kelsier takes pity of golem-dog. He gives a big animated sigh.] All right. All right.

[The googly eyes are removed and in their place.... Paper eyebrows. Made from napkin. So now Clifford looks very, very, concerned. ]

[By now Vin has wandered casually over to them, to keep track of her misplaced un-dog, obviously. She crosses her arms and looks at his makeover skeptically.]

I don't know about that.

[He grins because that is easily fixed. He turns the napkin eye-brows to make him look angry.]

I think it suits him.

[deadly_ned]

[looking over the mug from the other side of the bar, the Piemaker crosses his arms, skeptical]

Did you glue these on? I have to wash these.

[onlysurvivor]

[He tilts it to make the eyes wobble.] I would never be so cruel.

[He used poster putty. He just... doesn't know that's what its called.]

[Reaching out, he grasps the same cup and tilts it back the other way]

Because if they are glued on, I'm going to need to make you wash it.

Like I said, I would never be so cruel. [To subject himself to cleaning glue off a mug.]

[Iris is both highly amused and highly approving of this stunt, and perhaps a tiny bit chagrined that she didn't think of it first.

So she does the next best thing: she trails Kelsier at a discreet distance and moves some of the eyes around, so that if he passes back over what he's done already, there'll be a chair or a spoon looking back at him instead of a plate or a mug.]

[Well, isn't that odd? Kelsier stops when he sees a chair staring back at him. His smile broadens a bit and he glances around. He's not sure who did it but all the more fun.

There's a potted plant with googly eyes on its pot. He places it in the chair so they can can stare lovingly at each other. The chair and the plant, of course. It must be true love.

Anyway, he wanders off again intending to circle back around and see if anything has changed in a few minutes.]

[The plant and the chair are still together, but now their eyes are crossed. There's a half empty gin bottle on the chair seat as well, and the plant is leaning against the chair back at a drunken angle with a lipstick grin on its pot.

Iris is a romantic, okay.]

I'm still not entirely convinced you're not planning on poisoning me. [He's kidding. And the fact that he sounds totally coherent means no, he hasn't had any yet.]

You've caught on to my nefarious plot!

[ Don't mind her taking a couple of the eyes, leaning over to see what you're doing. ]

Some people believe that putting eyes on something gives it a soul.

[onlysurvivor]

[He makes a point to act startled when she talks like he didn't know she was there.]

That sounds like something Sazed would say.

Do you think I'm giving everything I touch a soul? If I am, my powers are more mysterious than I thought.

I don't know. I just know they wouldn't put faces on dolls. Then the spirit would get hurt every time you drop it.

If that was true, then everyone would have that power.

[onlysurvivor]

[He considers that a second then idly puts goggle eyes on his hand and makes a face out of his fist. And makes it talk...]

Do I have a soul?

[Red stares at the plate.

The plate stares back.

It is a very awkward moment of head tilting plate staring.]
